Arctic Debuts Trailer #1

You notice how every major actor does a film where they are lost in frozen climate? Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins did it in The Edge. Liam Neeson did it in The Grey. Leonardo DiCaprio did it in The Revenant. Idris Elba and Kate Winslet did it in The Mountain Between Us. Is this the acting equivalent of a mid-life crisis? Either way, apparently Mads Mikkelsen will be joining that club with his upcoming film Arctic. The synopsis is as follows:

A man stranded in the Arctic is about to receive a long awaited rescue when the helicopter that finds him crashes. The pilot is killed with the passenger severely injured. He must then decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his camp or to embark on a deadly trek through the unknown for potential salvation.

Unlike a handful of those movies above though, Arctic has received early rave reviews after it premiered last year at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Focusing on scientific accuracy of surviving in that environment and using little dialogue, the first trailer puts a truly harrowing survival tale on display. So while many actors have taken on this story, Mikkelsen looks to leave many in the dust…or I guess rather the snow. Check out the first trailer below:

Arctic is directed by Joe Penna. It is set to hit theaters February 9th.
