Deadwood Revival Film Officially Greenlit, Set for 2019 Premiere

I can name a few people that are very happy to get the new today that the Deadwood revival film is in fact happening. It’s not being considered, it’s not having “all the details worked out”. It has been confirmed today that the film, which will both continue the storyline of the famously cancelled show and conclude the show’s tale with a proper ending, is officially happening. HBO programming president Casey Bloys made the announcement at the TCA summer press tour on Wednesday, quoting the following:

All of these people worked hard to get this together. Its been a logistics nightmare getting all the cast members’ schedules together, but we are there. It is greenlit.

While not set in stone, the film is hoping to begin production in October, but as far as is known, everyone is coming back and the film will air in Spring of 2019 on HBO. Series creator David Milch has returned to write the script. This is easily one piece of unfinished business that quite a few film and TV buffs will be happy to know is now on the books. Stay tuned!
