Ethan Hawke has a homegrown personality that projects onto the roles he takes. Playing characters usually with a relaxed and coy nature, Hawke’s subtly and tendency to have characters who contemplate the world around them, it’s no surprise that this would make Hawke an ideal director. This is no more clear than with his new directing project Blaze, based on the life of country musician Blaze Foley.
The film is based on the 2008 novel Living in the Woods in a Tree: Remembering Blaze by author Sybil Rosen who actually co-wrote the screenplay with Hawke. After debuting at 2018 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, the film is now set to hit theaters on September 7th. Today, a trailer for the film has been released which displays the prestigious ability of Hawke and the talent of lead star Ben Dickey who takes on the role of Foley. Check it out below:
