Last time real-life couple Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem worked together, it was last year’s Finding Pablo which…didn’t go over very well. However, their newest film that seems them reunite on-screen, Everybody Knows, has managed to get modest reviews and even opened the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Being directed by two-time Oscar-winning writer/director Asghar Farhadi, whose 2012 film A Separation and 2016 film The Salesman both won Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, surely helps as well. The synopsis is as follows:
The story follows Laura (Played by Cruz), a Spanish woman living in Buenos Aires, who returns with her children to her hometown outside Madrid for a wedding. However, the trip is upset by unexpected events that bring secrets into the open.
