First Look: Brandon Routh as Superman for Crisis on Infinite Earths TV Crossover

Avengers: Endgame may have dominated the box office on the big screen but Warner Bros. seems poised to take the small screen. Their upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover will unite all of their shows including Arrow (Coming to an end this season), The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, Supergirl, and Batwoman. In addition, several stars from former DC shows (Before it was cool!) are coming back. The most popular announcement is Tom Welling and Erica Durance will return as their versions of Superman and Lois Lane, respectively, from the show Smallville. However, more are to come.

Not only will legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy be appearing as a live-action version of the character, Burt Ward from the 1960’s Batman show is coming back and so is John Wesley Shipp as his version of Barry Allen/The Flash (He has recently played various characters on The Flash show currently on the CW). It was even announced yesterday that Ashley Scott will return as Helena/Huntress from her one season show Birds of Prey which ran back in 2003. Safe to say, the CW is hoping to knock this crossover out of the park. And even current actors in their line-up are getting a chance to play old characters of theirs.

While Welling will return as his version of Superman, as well as Tyler Hoechlin returning as his version of Supergirl, it was announced previously that Brandon Routh will return to play a version of Superman, albeit not the version of Superman he played back in the 2006 film Superman Returns. Rather, he’ll be playing a version akin to the popular Alex Ross-written graphic novel Kingdom Come. An older Superman. Routh is currently playing Ray Palmer/The Atom on the show Legends of Tomorrow so for him this working double duty. Still, the first official image for the crossover has been released today and, admittedly, Routh looks good back in the suit, showing why he was even cast in the role back in 2006. Check it out below:

The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover will run from December 8th-10th before taking a break and returning with a two-part finale on January 14th.
