First Look: Henry Cavill as Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher TV Series

The Witcher has quite the legacy both as a series of books written by author Andrzej Sapkowski and a series of popular video games. Critically acclaimed too I might add. So the upcoming Netflix show that will adapt the material as well has a lot to live up to. While production for the eight-episode first season is about to get underway in Eastern Europe (With a hope to be on the streaming service by some time in 2020), since fans have quite the wait, Netflix has released costume and make-up test footage on their Twitter account. It shows lead actor Henry Cavill in character as Geralt of Rivia. Keep in mind, this is only test footage. Check it out below:

Obviously there are still some things to add including Geralt’s facial scar but for the most part a fairly accurate adaptation of the character. This is sort of a full circle moment for Cavill who got his first breakthrough role on television in The Tudors years ago after years of near-miss chances to be in starring film roles. That of course changed when he was cast as Clark Kent/Superman for 2013’s Man of Steel, followed by successful roles in films such as the film adaptation of the show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and this year’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Hopefully this will continue Cavill’s good luck while the show itself will be top quality and not disappoint fans. Stay tuned!

Cavill: “I am the last son of…oh wait…sorry…that part of my life is on hold…I do magic now.”
