Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley has managed to grab audiences with his unique storytelling, mixing intriguing visuals with compelling characters. Now, Hawley will take to the cinema as director of the film Pale Blue Dot. Designed as a fictionalized take on the true events surrounding astronaut Lisa Nowak, the synopsis is as follows:
An astronaut returns to Earth after a lengthy mission and begins an affair with a fellow astronaut. She heads into a downward spiral as she loses her connection to her family — a condition that can afflict those who spend a long time in space — and when her lover begins another affair with an astronaut trainee, the bottom drops out.
Natalie Portman, no stranger to sexual-psychological films as her Oscar-winning role in Black Swan would indicate, will take on the role of Lucy Cola, the astronaut character based on Nowak. And today, the first look of her in character has been released. Check it out below:
Pale Blue Dot co-stars Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, and Dan Stevens. The film is still filming through September so no release date has yet been given. Stay tuned!
