There was a time where a January-February release date for a film was considered a death sentence. A burn-off period for audiences just getting off the holidays who might fill their time with some cheap thrills at the cinemas. Who would figure that last year in January audiences would get such a surprise in the form of director M. Night Shyamalan’s film Split. At first thought to just be an intriguing one-off, it was revealed in the post-credit scene, which was not featured in the original screening of the film, that the film was actually the long-talked about sequel to M. Night’s 2000 film Unbreakable.
Following M. Night’s decades-long sequel idea, it was revealed that Split was both the bridge film of the Unbreakable trilogy and the origin story of the trilogy’s antagonist Kevin Wendell Crumb (Played by James McAvoy), a man with 23 personalities along with a 24th personality, the destructive villain called “The Beast”. With Unbreakbable itself serving as the origin story of the hero David Dunn (Played by Bruce Willis), an invincible man, next year we will see these two characters clash while Elijah Price/Mr. Glass (Played by Samuel L. Jackson), a mass murder and comic book theorist from the first film, will somehow partake. After all, it is Price who told Dunn that beings with special powers from the comic books would somehow take form in the real world. Now, that comes to fruition in Glass and today a teaser poster has been released that demonstrates this correlation between the identities the characters claim and how they are perceived in the real world. Check it out below:
Glass co-stars Spencer Treat Clark, Charlayne Woodard, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Sarah Paulson. It is set to hit theaters January 18, 2019.
