After Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, composer Hans Zimmer claimed he was done with superhero films…but I guess they made him quite the offer to change his mind. Not just one studio, but two. Zimmer is already set to compose X-Men: Dark Phoenix (Which is out next February in 2019), but now word has come that Zimmer will also score Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to last year’s hit film Wonder Woman.
Zimmer, along with Junkie XL, were responsible for the BvS track titled “Is She With You?” that featured the theme character that was then heavily sampled in her first solo movie last year by that film’s composer Rupert Gregson-Williams. Gregson-Williams, it seems, will not be returning for the sequel. Still, at least the film got someone familiar with the theme of the lead character, essentially the foundation of her current cinematic incarnation, at least on an orchestrated level.
Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal. It is directed by Patty Jenkins and is set to hit theaters November 1, 2019.
