Hulu’s Catch-22 TV Miniseries Debuts Teaser Trailer

Last time we saw George Clooney on television, it was on ER in the 1990’s as Dr. Doug Ross. While he made an appearance in the final season in 2009, Clooney had essentially moved onto movies permanently. He’s come a long way since his heart-throbbing days, becoming an Oscar-winning actor and even surprising as a director from time-to-time (We’ll just ignore Suburbicon okay? Everyone makes mistakes).

But for nostalgic fans of the 90’s (The retro website for Captain Marvel shows there is quite a fanbase), Clooney’s return to television this year is going to be one of celebration. Especially given he will be co-starring, directing, and executive producing a miniseries based on the acclaimed 1961 absurdist novel Catch-22 (Written by author Joseph Heller).

It’s a potent story that manages to be both through-provoking and entertaining, in ways sharing the satirical tone of Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (Itself adapted from the 1958 novel Red Alert by author Peter George). Focusing on Captain John Yossarian and the other airmen in the camp of the 256th Squadron during WWII, the story follows them as they attempt to maintain their sanity while fulfilling their service requirements so that they may return home. The titular catch you ask? Any who declare themselves insane (In an attempt to be sent home) are considered sane because of their ability to acknowledge their insanity.

If the teaser released today for the upcoming miniseries (Set to consist of six episodes) is any indication, it will more than live up to the sheer madness of the book. Check it out below:

Catch-22 is set to premiere on Hulu on May 17th.
