The third installment in the John Wick film series is in production at this time, set for a release date almost a year from now on May 17, 2019. The hopes are high for this film as it looks to, possibly anyway, be the final installment in the series (Although this has not been confirmed).
Still, there seems to be a determination to make this film stand out among it’s series with a more distinguished title announced today by franchise star Keanu Reeves. He confirms the film will be titled John Wick 3: Parabellum, even confirming the meaning of the subtitle. It is latin for “Prepare for War” and comes from the famed line “Si vis pacem, para bellum” (“If you want peace, prepare for war”).
In addition, Reeves discussed how his character’s dynamic with Sofia, a new character being introduced that is played by Halle Berry. He explained it in the following manner:
Each film is very different but in the same kind of world and take… John Wick is fighting for his life and thinks that Halle Berry’s character has some information for him. They have a past, and they get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity (laughs).
John Wick 3: Parabellum co-stars Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Hiroyuki Sanada, Common, Lance Reddick, Mark Dacascos, and Laurence Fishburne. It is directed by Chad Stahelski.
