Joss Whedon to Return to TV with HBO’s Nevers TV Series

Say what you want about The Avengers, but none can deny Joss Whedon carved out a niche for himself on television. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse. The latter two shows sadly faced the wrath of Fox’s infamous mishandling of their shows’ episode orders and bad promotion. But that didn’t stop any of his shows from being recognized every time. So hearing that Whedon will be returning to TV is great news, but hearing he’ll be creating a show on HBO is news that deserves an “Amen!”.

HBO, unlike Fox, is very respectful of a show’s vision! Give this guy the budget and set seasons with creative reign and you’re going to get one heck of a ride. Titled Nevers, the show sci-fi series is said to be about a group of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world. Serving as an executive producer, showrunner, writer, and director for the show, Whedon dubs this the most ambitious narrative he’s ever created, adding that it “has been too long since I created an entirely new fictional world.”

Tough to say what will come of this show but for many it’s about a creative force back in his natural environment. And that could pay off in a big way for fans. Stay tuned!
