It’s hard not to praise Renée Zellweger in this potential comeback role of hers. Taking on Judy Garland’s tumultuously tragic story is one for the history books as Garland’s struggles were no secret. An epitome of the pressure put on actresses to deliver as they get older. Sadly, we know the end of Garland’s story, much like we knew the end of Abraham Lincoln’s story despite how many times his story has been told.
It’s that tragic end that, in irony, helps emphasize the meaning of their lives. If the new trailer for Judy is any indication, Zellweger will be honoring Garland’s life with all the emotionally weight and intelligence an actress of her caliber is capable of. Check out the new trailer below:
Judy co-stars Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock, Rufus Sewell, and Michael Gambon. It is directed by Rupert Goold. It is set to released in the United States on September 27, 2019 and in the United Kingdom on October 4, 2019.
