Not a lot of films are popping out in the minds of audiences this year that isn’t part of some massive franchise. Without a doubt though, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stands out as one of the few that isn’t, telling the tale of a former Western star and his stunt double trying to redefine themselves in a changing Hollywood landscape.
Incorporating the infamous Manson Family murders, the film already had gained attention for several reasons beyond the controversy of Tarantino’s exploitative style of filmmaking tackling such a delicate historical moment in history. Not only is this the first film Tarantino will do without the involvement of Harvey Weinstein (Who Tarantino parted ways with after the Weinstein scandal broke), but it’s also the first film Tarantino is doing that talks about true history. Not the alternate take on history he did with Inglourious Basterds, but a genuine reflection on a period of history. What will come of that will be discovered on July 26th and while a trailer hasn’t been released yet, the first poster for the film has been released today, implying a trailer probably isn’t far behind. Check out the poster below:
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie.
