I want you to read the synopsis for the upcoming film Patient Zero and you tell me if it makes sense:
After a pandemic outbreak, a mutated form of rabies results in most humans being turned into a highly intelligent new species known as “the Infected”. Morgan (Played by Matt Smith), a human survivor with the ability to talk with the Infected, investigates these species and pursues patient zero to find an antidote to save humanity, including his infected wife. Aiding Morgan on the mission to find patient zero is CDC virologist Dr. Gina Rose (Played by Natalie Dormer), leading the scientific research efforts, and Colonel Knox (Played by Clive Standen), in charge of the military front.
Okay, so apparently rabies makes intelligent zombies? The disease that makes animals go wild and try to attack people? And besides Stanley Tucci, who apparently is playing the titular Patient Zero, I’m not seeing any intelligence. But doesn’t matter judging by the release date announced. It will actually be released digitally first on August 14th followed by a theatrical release in select cinemas on September 14th. So you can guess there isn’t a lot of faith in this project. Still, even as it reveals everything but the final scene, the trailer is admittedly decent so one could guess if you picked this movie up on a boring Friday, you won’t be completely wasting your time. Check out the trailer below:
Patient Zero co-stars Agyness Deyn. It is directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky.
