Dame Judi Dench is 84 years old, but that doesn’t seem to stop her from continuing to deliver some of the finest performances an actress can. And her range never ceases to amaze. Her newest film Red Joan, based on the life of Melita Norwood (The KGB’s longest-serving British spy), is one that takes the recent craze of female spy stories and instead decides to put a focus on powerful drama instead of action.
While Norwood has her name changed to Joan Stanley (Played by Dench), it’s clear in the newest trailer this is a decidedly different kind of film for the spy genre. Check it out below:
Red Joan co-stars Sophie Cookson. It is directed by Trevor Nunn and is set for release in the UK on April 19th. No US date has been announced yet.
