The upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2 is one of heavy hype, not only for gamers who’ve always wanted to play the storyline of the classic 1998 sequel, but those gamers who already have fond memories of the original version that played on Playstation 1. With new gameplay and overhauled visuals, Resident Evil 2 is working to please both demographics, with old gamers being treated to a remake that works to offer revised versions of all the little trimmings the original version had. The makers of the remake are making sure of that. Not only are they releasing a timed 30-minute demo through the game’s release that pays homage to a similar gimmick they did back in 1998 (See the trailer for it here), but they are even adding the peculiar bonus scenarios from the original Resident Evil 2 as well.
In the original Resident Evil 2, there were 2 bonus scenarios centered around two characters named HUNK and Tofu. The character of HUNK is the lone survivor of an Umbrella assault team having to escape Raccoon City with a sample of the G-virus. His bonus mission – dubbed “The 4th Survivor” – sees HUNK going through areas swarming with enemies with only limited ammo and health items. The character of Tofu goes through the same mission…except the character of Tofu is literally a giant stick of tofu who is only armed with a knife. Naturally, these are two intriguing and unique aspects of the original so fans will be happy to have the robust challenge of these scenarios in the remake while new gamers will surely be up for such a complete remake of such a classic game that includes these scenarios.
Today, a new trailer promoting these bonus characters/scenarios has been released. Check it out below:
Resident Evil 2 is set to be available on January 25th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
