“Room” Director Lenny Abrahamson To Helm “A Man’s World”

“Room” has been gaining critical acclaim as of late, particularly lead actress Brie Larson and newcomer Jacob Tremblay as the mother/son duo who the film completely centers around. Because of the film’s overall praise though, it’s no surprise it’s director, Lenny Abrahamson, is already set for several films. Besides reteaming with his “Frank” star Domhnall Gleeson for a true story titled “The Little Stranger”, he also has been set to helm “A Man’s World”, an adaptation of author Donald McRae’s book “A Man’s World: The Double Life Of Emile Griffith”.

"Well now that my stars are getting award buzz, I want in on that! Bisexual boxer?! That's gold!!!"

This story is based on real-life boxer Emile Griffith who secretly was a bisexual, which led to a rather tragic moment as, after being called by him a homosexual during a weigh-in before the fight, Griffith killed Benny “The Kid” Paret in the ring. No cast or release date has been announced but if it is anything as off-the-wall as “Frank” or deeply psychological as “Room”, we can expect quite a unique film.

"Yeah, Abrahamson has left the comedy genre I think. Bye Lenny! We'll miss you!"
