Admittedly, Spider-Man: Homecoming was not my favorite of the Marvel films. Between the juvenile humor and the almost pace-less story, the film lacked any dramatic heft that fit the situation Peter Parker was going through. Not to mention the film was trying so hard, courtesy of Sony’s desperate need to be apart of the profitable MCU, to piggyback on the larger narrative of the franchise. This included the villain getting his tech from the Battle of New York featured in The Avengers to Tony Stark having a supporting role as Peter’s mentor. Sadly, some of that won’t change for the upcoming sequel.
Today, Spider-Man: Far From Home debuted it’s official teaser trailer which sees Peter going on summer vacation in Europe with his classmates. This be fine but now Peter is trying to woo “MJ” (Sense the tone with the quotations) and Nick Fury is taking over from Stark as a mentor to the growing superhero to fight the villains known as the Elementals. Oh…and he’s teaming up with famed comic book villain Mysterio. Once again, the character who once took on the mantle “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”…can’t seem to handle a lot of responsibility with his great power on his own.
