Super Bowl LIII: Every TV & Film Spot Released

Well, Super Bowl LIII has come and gone. While the Patriots got the ring, audiences got the spots for upcoming films and shows hitting the big and small screens. We already got the TV spot for Amazon’s upcoming TV series version of the film Hanna (See it here), we now got the full slew of the Super Bowl promotion today. Let’s get to it.

Film: Us

Starting off before the game, we were treated to a new trailer for Jordan Peele’s Us. While he claims the straight-laced horror film won’t carry racial themes like Get Out, the film continues to allude to several things we saw in his previous Oscar-winning effort. Check it out below:

Us stars Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, and Tim Heidecker. It is set to hit theaters March 15, 2019.

Film: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Next up, the Guillermo Del Toro-produced Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, based on the series of popular children’s books by author Alvin Schwartz. Based on a story by Del Toro, the film looks to offer Goosebumps-type scares for kids and adults alike. Check out the official trailer for it below:

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is directed by André Øvredal and is set to hit theaters August 9th.

Film: Avengers: Endgame

Without a doubt, the biggest spot is for the film that will no doubt be the highest grossing film of this year. Without ANY doubt in fact. Coming off the shocking cliffhanger left with last year’s Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame will see the remaining heroes try to undo the universal genocide of half of the universe. The TV spot is smart to remind audiences who has been lost in Thanos’ snap and the toll it took on everyone who was left behind. Without a doubt, the MCU will never be the same. Check it out below:

Avengers: Endgame is co-directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. It is set to hit theaters August 26th.

Film: Alita: Battle Angel

Coming out in less than two weeks, 20th Century Fox has made one final big promotional push for Alita with a new commercial. While the film has gotten early mixed reviews (52% on Rotten Tomatoes), the film has gotten strong buzz from early test screenings and the film has climbed nearly 20% on Rotten Tomatoes since it’s initial reviews. One way or another, the film will go down as one of the more divisive films of the year. Check out the new spot below:

Alita: Battle Angel stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, and Keean Johnson. It is directed by Robert Rodriguez and is set to hit theaters February 14th.

TV: The Handmaid’s Tale (Season 3)

While it hasn’t gotten a premiere date yet, season 3 of Hulu’s The Handmaiden’s Tale has released it’s first teaser with the new season set to premiere sometime later this year. Continuing on with it’s paper-thin parallels to contemporary topics in America, the new season looks to drop a sledge hammer on what it thinks is going on as the TV spot declares “Wake up America”. Check it out below:

Film: Captain Marvel

Before the Avengers work to undo Thanos’ damage in Endgame, Marvel first plans to introduce audiences to Captain Marvel. Whether you’re intrigued by the superpowered heroine or not, the new “Big Game” TV spot shows at least you won’t be bored. Check it out below:

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law. It is written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. It is set to hit theaters March 8, 2019.

Film: Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

Barely two days after the debut of the first trailer for Hobbs & Shaw (See it here), the Fast & Furious spin-off made sure to also drop a little TV spot during the Super Bowl. Check it out below:

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Roman Reigns, Eiza Gonzalez, Eddie Marsan, Cliff Curtis, and Helen Mirren. It is directed by David Leitch and is set to hit theaters August 2nd.

TV: Jordan Peele’s The Twilight Zone

Jordan Peele’s directorial debut Get Out got a lot of noted comparisons to past movies and shows, namely episodes of The Twilight Zone. Peele himself has noted these inspirations so it’s no surprise he will be hosting (Taking over for legendary Rod Sterling) a new revival of the show which debuted it’s first trailer today. Check it out below:

The Twilight Zone is set to premiere on April 1, 2019 on CBS All Access.

Film: Toy Story 4

Jordan Peele turned out to be everywhere and is even set to be apart of the upcoming Toy Story 4 where he will reunite with Keegan-Michael Key to play Bunny & Ducky, two carnival toys that will meet the main cast of characters who are embarking on a road trip this time around. Check out the new TV spot that features their characters below:

Toy Story 4 is directed by Josh Cooley and is set to hit theaters June 21st.

That wraps up the Super Bowl ads for this year. Without a doubt, it will be a big year for films, shows, and franchises alike. Stay tuned!
