If I had to be bias? I’d say Genndy Tartakovsky is a treasure for animated media. He created some of the most iconic cartoons of the last 30 years whether it was Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, or Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Even his Hotel Transylvania films are, if anything, entertaining. But with the fifth season revival of Samurai Jack a couple years ago (Which was done on Adult Swim’s Toonami allowing for a more mature tone), it’s shown that Tartakovsky still had a powerful voice to bring to the often understated media category of animated content. And it is with the example of the Samurai Jack revival that bring joy to me as a fan that Adult Swim will continue it’s relationship with Tartakovsky for his next venture.
It was announced today that Adult Swim has ordered the Primal, Tartakovsky’s new half-hour animated show. The story will follow a caveman at the dawn of evolution and a dinosaur on the brink of extinction. Bonded by tragedy, this unlikely friendship becomes the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world. The show’s premiere date has already been set for fall of this year.
If it’s anything like Tartakovsky’s other legendary series, Primal will another tale for the ages. Stay tuned!
