The Grinch Projected for $50 Million Opening Weekend

Even though The Grinch feels like nothing close to it’s original source material (It features singer Pharrell Williams as the narrator for crying out loud!), but that’s not going to stop the film from doing well at the box office. With the film set to hit theaters in a couple weeks (November 4th), early box office projections have come out with the movie expected to make $50 million domestically. Due to the family-friendly tone of the film, it’s no surprise the film is expected to outpace every other film that weekend with the closest being The Girl with the Spider’s Web expected to make $11-$12 million when it also opens that weekend while other new release Overlord will make $8-$9 million.

The Grinch features the voices of Benedict Cumberbatch, Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Cameron Seely, and Angela Lansbury. It is co-directed by Peter Candeland and Yarrow Cheney. It is set to hit theaters November 9, 2019.
