Back in March we got the first trailer for The House with a Clock in Its Walls (See it here) and even still it’s an odd combination of cast and crew. Director Eli Roth, known for bloody horror films, goes outside his comfort zone for a gothic fantasy that is written by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, based on a 1973 children’s novel of the same name by author John Bellairs. Then you got actors like comedian Jack Black and the prestigious Cate Blanchett leading the cast.
What we’re ultimately seeing is almost a chemistry experiment, mixing new components and seeing if it doesn’t blow up in someone’s face. The new trailer released today is actually surprising in that it doesn’t look bad. In fact, one might argue it shows an evolution of Roth as a director. But you’ll have to see it and decide for yourself. Check it out below:
The House with a Clock in Its Walls co-stars Owen Vaccaro, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Sunny Suljic, and Kyle MacLachlan. It is set to hit theaters September 21st.
