Been awhile since Tim Roth lead a film, although it’s a shame it’s not more often. A solid actor even before we saw him hold up a diner in Pulp Fiction in the 1990’s, Roth has been mostly sidelined to a lot of supporting roles (Luckily in a few Tarantino films along the way). He was in well-liked show Lie to Me from 2009-2011 but sadly it was cancelled only a couple seasons in. While we hope to see Roth back in a big film in the lead (Not just a villain role like in The Incredible Hulk), Roth is starring in the up-and-coming film The Padre. The synopsis is as follows:
It tells the story of the Padre (Played by Roth), a small-time con man on the run from his dogged pursuers, U.S. Court Justice Nemes (Played by Nick Nolte) and local police officer Gaspar (Played by Luis Guzmán). When the Padre is caught mid-con, he flees the scene in a stolen car, unaware that a precocious 16-year-old girl, Lena, is stowing away in the back seat. After she blackmails him into letting her join his journey, the duo plan their biggest heist yet – not always aware of the dangers of working with each other and the law closing in on them.
The film has yet to get a release date but for now we have the first trailer for the film which you can check out below:
The Padre is directed by Jonathan Sobol.
