Todd McFarlane Confirms Dark Tone of Spawn Reboot

The Spawn reboot hasn’t gotten an official release date yet with production not even beginning until June 2019. Still, there doesn’t seem to be any issue with the film’s script as writer/director Todd McFarlane doubled down today in a new interview on what to expect from the film. Basically, expect a dreary and dark film unlike any other superhero film you’ve seen before:

There’s no joy… There’s gonna be no fun lines in it, and it’s just gonna be this dark, ugly two hours worth of movie, which is essentially what a lot of supernatural/horror movies are anyway. There’s not a lot of funny in them. And that seems to be a weird hurdle for a lot of people in this city to get over because they sort of go into a superhero/Avengers default all the time.

Spawn stars Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner. No release date has been announced yet.
