We got the first, full-fledged trailer for Venom back in late April (See it here) and today we have the second, but really you might as well call it a recap of the film as it seems to reveal the entire plot of the film minus it’s final moments. As for the contents of the trailer it’s one to speculate. The film at times feels perfectly suited for the famous comic book anti-hero, his viciousness and wicked affection for violence, but Tom Hardy’s take on Eddie Brock is still…odd. He comes off like a crack addict with twitches and mannerisms like he’s fresh from taking a hit.
Then again, that could be part of the narrative constructed to fit this version of the character that, usually, has his origins tied to Spider-Man (Who is not in the film as far as we can tell). Whether the film can be more than the trailer indicates and surprises we won’t know for a few more months. For now, check out the new trailer below:
Venom co-stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. It is directed by Ruben Fleischer and is set to hit theaters October 5, 2018.
